Hydropneumatic Tanks
Hydropneumatic tanks are ASME and non-ASME vessels that hold water and air under pressure. To provide efficient water supply, hydropneumatic tanks regulate system pressures to quickly meet system demand. The compressed air creates a cushion that can absorb or apply pressure as needed. Typical applications include booster pump, well water, sprinkler or irrigation application, or any application where a continuous flow of water is needed while regulating pump cycles. In a booster pump application, it can provide water to the system during periods of a no flow shutdown of the booster pump or it can provide water to replace leak loads. In a well water application, it can provide the desired volume of water required between the pump shut down pressure and the pump turn on pressure. In a sprinkler or irrigation pump application, the tank may provide a cushion to maintain necessary pressure so the jockey pump will not short cycle.
ASME Bladder Hydropneumatic Tanks
FXA bladder style hydro-pneumatic tanks are the ASME code design, will be smaller in size than the plain steel hydropneumatic tank design and thus require less floor space. The heavy-duty butyl rubber replaceable bladder is a barrier between the air and water which prevents water logging. The pre-charged hydropneumatic tank is virtually maintenance free. FXT diaphragm style hydro-pneumatic tanks are ASME code design with a non-replaceable heavy duty butyl rubber fixed diaphragm designed to provide a lower initial cost.
Non-ASME Hydropneumatic Tanks
FX bladder style tanks are non-ASME code design, will be smaller in size than the plain steel hydropneumatic tank design and thus require less floor space. The heavy-duty butyl rubber replaceable bladder is a barrier between the air and water which prevents water logging. The pre-charged hydropneumatic tank is virtually maintenance free. Typically suitable for systems with a working pressure under 150 PSI that do not require ASME-code vessels.
Plain Steel Custom Hydropneumatic tanks
Plain Steel (air over water) - Custom Hydro-Pneumatic tanks are the non-bladder type built in carbon steel. There are several functions that a custom hydro-pneumatic tank can perform. In a booster pump application, it can provide water to the system during periods of a no flow shut down of the booster pump or it can provide water to replace leak loads. In a well water application, it can provide the desired volume of water required between the pump shut down pressure and the pump turn on pressure. A plain steel or air over water hydropneumatic tank is designed to be used in conjunction with an air compressor to maintain the air cushion.
